Differences between the two types of vehicles

The core differences between RGN and low-bed trailers are first reflected in the structural design and loading/unloading logic. The most significant feature of RGN is the detachable gooseneck. Through a hydraulic device, the front structure connecting to the tractor can be completely removed, forming a slope at the front end of the trailer. Heavy equipment can directly drive onto the platform by itself without relying on external lifting tools. For example, when transporting a crawler excavator, only the gooseneck needs to be removed, and the equipment can drive onto the trailer from the slope. After being fixed, the gooseneck can be reset. This is especially suitable for scenarios in the wild where there are no lifting conditions. The height of its cargo platform can be as low as less than 0.6 meters. The multi-axle design can disperse the weight, and the load-bearing capacity generally reaches 50 - 120 tons, which can be adapted to the transportation of super-large equipment.
The gooseneck and cargo platform of the low-frame flatbed trailer are an integrated fixed structure. Although the cargo platform is also low (about 0.8 - 1.2 meters from the ground), there is no ramp at the front, and goods must be hoisted onto the platform by equipment such as cranes. For example, when transporting a 30-ton loader, a crane is required to lift the equipment onto the flatbed and fix it. The operation efficiency is relatively low and there are requirements for the site. The carrying capacity is mostly between 30 - 80 tons, making it more suitable for small and medium-sized goods. The application scenarios and cost structures of the two are also quite different. The RGN is designed specifically for super-large equipment that cannot be disassembled and needs to move by itself, such as shield machines and wind turbine towers. It can complete loading and unloading in the wild without lifting conditions. Although the vehicle purchase cost is 1.5 - 2 times that of the low-frame flatbed trailer, and the maintenance cost of the hydraulic system is high, it can save high lifting costs. The low-frame flatbed trailer is characterized by a fixed gooseneck design and a universal cargo platform. It is suitable for transporting conventional goods such as steel coils and small and medium-sized construction machinery. The vehicle purchase and maintenance costs are low, but it relies on external lifting equipment, and its efficiency is affected in frequent loading and unloading scenarios.
