Why Anti-Slip Deck Plates Reduce Scratches During Car Shipment

At LUYI AUTO, we ship cars and trucks every day on car carrier trailers, and we've seen one problem come up over and over: scratches on the vehicle body caused by slip on the deck. The fix is simpler than most people think - anti-slip deck plates.

When a car drives onto a trailer deck, its tires can shift slightly during loading, transit, or braking. On a smooth steel surface, even a small sideways movement can rub the tire against the wheel rim, fender, or lower body panels. Over hundreds of kilometers of highway driving, that repeated motion adds up to visible scratches, scuffs, and sometimes paint damage.

Anti-slip deck plates change this. The raised texture - usually diamond-pattern or checkered steel - grips the tires the moment they touch down. Once the car is in place, the tires stay put. There's no sliding, no micro-movement, and no tire-to-body friction during transport. Drivers also get more confidence during loading, because the car doesn't feel like it might roll or shift backward on ramps.

The benefits go beyond looks. Fewer scratches mean fewer damage claims, less time spent negotiating with buyers, and better resale condition when the car reaches the dealer. For export shipments - especially to Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia - the last thing anyone wants is a brand-new car arriving with a damaged finish.

At LUYI AUTO, we fit anti-slip plates on our car carrier trailers because they protect both the cargo and our reputation. It's a small detail that makes a big difference at delivery.
