With a loud ship horn, a cargo vessel loaded with custom-built 4-axle side wall semi-trailers departed from an eastern port recently, bound for Senegal in West Africa. Developed exclusively by the technical team over three months to suit Senegal's rainy season road conditions and freight characteristics, these vehicles feature corrosion-resistant high-strength steel side walls. Integrating lightweight design into an 80-ton load-bearing structure, they consume 15% less fuel than local traditional models. The innovative dual-mode cargo box-with both side-opening and rear-lifting functions-reduces loading and unloading time for bulk agricultural products like peanuts and cotton from 4 hours to just 1 hour. Equipped with rainproof sealing strips, the trailers effectively protect goods from the impact of the rainforest climate. Prior to shipment, Senegalese representatives in China inspected the vehicles on-site and highly praised their adaptability.
Seventy percent of Senegal's agricultural products rely on road transportation for export, and the loss rate caused by outdated freight vehicles once reached 20%, becoming a key bottleneck restricting economic development. The introduction of these 4-axle semi-trailers will precisely address this challenge. According to the cooperation agreement, the vehicles will be prioritized for the dedicated route from Saint-Louis Port to inland agricultural areas. It is expected to reduce agricultural product transportation losses by over 10,000 tons annually, providing a guarantee for local farmers' income growth. Meanwhile, the vehicles' high load-bearing capacity will support the transportation of construction materials for infrastructure projects such as Dakar's new airport, improving the efficiency of construction material transportation by 40%. The president of Senegal's Logistics Association stated that this cooperation is not only an upgrade of transportation tools but also opens up an "efficient artery" for regional trade in West Africa.
