Tank trailers mainly transport fuels and industrial liquids. Liquid sloshes freely during acceleration, braking and turning, creating uneven weight distribution and strong impact that may cause vehicle skidding or rollover. As solid internal dividers, bulkheads separate the tank into multiple sealed compartments. Compared with ordinary perforated baffles, they better limit liquid movement and reduce violent sloshing, greatly improving driving stability. They also enable separate delivery of different liquids and strengthen the overall structure of the tank.
Bulkheads still have certain limitations in actual use. Their enclosed compartments are difficult to clean thoroughly, so they are not suitable for food-grade liquid transport, where common baffles are more appropriate. Besides, they cannot eliminate small liquid fluctuations, so reasonable filling capacity and auxiliary damping structures are still required for safe transport. Overall, bulkheads are essential safety components for tank trailers. They effectively reduce liquid sloshing risks and stabilize vehicle operation, with continuous structural upgrades further improving liquid transportation safety.
